Frequently Asked Questions

What are the reasons for insufficient vacuum pump capacity?

Possible causes: Insufficient motor power resulting in inadequate rotational speed; insufficient water supply; excessive clearance between the impeller and the disc; leakage of water and air due to damage to the mechanical seal; excessive impeller wear; inability to discharge circulating water; excessively high water temperature; abnormality in the mixed working fluid; damage to the exhaust valve plate.

Troubleshooting methods: Check whether the supply voltage is within the motor’s rated voltage range; increase the water flow rate (but ensure it remains within the correct range, otherwise the motor may overload and overheat); reduce the clearance between the impeller and the disc; replace the mechanical seal; replace the impeller; inspect the outlet piping; lower the water supply temperature; replace the working fluid; replace the valve plate.

What could be the reason if it won’t start or makes a lot of noise once it does start?

Possible causes: Insufficient supply voltage to the motor; phase failure in the motor operation; prolonged disuse of the pump leading to rusting; foreign objects being sucked into the pump; impeller rubbing against the disc.

Troubleshooting methods: Check whether the supply voltage is too low; verify that all motor connections are secure; if the pump has been idle for a long time and rust has formed, you can add some rust remover or manually remove the rust by opening the pump cover; open the pump cover to remove any debris; adjust the clearance between the impeller and the disc.

Causes of Motor Overheating

Possible causes: Excessive water supply leading to motor overload; phase failure in the motor; blocked vent holes; the impeller dragging other components.

Troubleshooting methods: Reduce the water supply to the normal range (refer to the pump’s instruction manual for the recommended liquid supply); check that the wiring is securely connected; inspect the vent port; and open the pump cover to adjust the clearance between the impeller and other components.

What are the factors that lead to insufficient air volume?

Possible causes: Air or liquid leakage in the pipeline; increased resistance loss; insufficient water supply; corrosion of the pumped medium leading to excessive clearance; excessively high water temperature.

Exclusion methods: Check the mechanical seal at the connection; inspect the piping and check valves for any malfunctions; increase the water supply (but ensure it remains within the correct range, otherwise the motor may overload and overheat); replace corroded components; reduce the water supply temperature.

Causes of Mechanical Seal Leakage in Vacuum Pumps

1. The working fluid in the mechanical seal is too dirty.

Frequently replace the working fluid filter and switch to an external flushing method.

2. The working medium has crystallized, causing damage to the mechanical seal’s sealing surfaces.

Process improvement to prevent crystallization.

3. The customer forgot to supply water, causing the mechanical seal to rupture.

Ensure that water supply is provided first, then start the pump.
